According to United Nation Development Propgram, almost two-third of Liberians live below poverty line; lacking access to electricity, clean water and sanitation facilities. Additionally, 3.5 million people live in Liberia but only 14% has access to toilets that safely separate human feces from human contact. This staggering statistic cannot be ignored. Some of the fundamental reality in today’s Liberia still remain unchanged…Many of our poorer communities defecate in plastic bags that are disposed as ‘FLYING TOILETS’! This possess a serious problem to the productivity of the country…This is a life threaten issue that needs immediate attention!
While we all act from our respective ends to better Liberia, I urge each and everyone to kindly join hands with The Checago Bright Foundation on December. 3, 2011, Columbia, Maryland to [MAKE A DIFFERENCE] to address these growing concerns of poor sanitation facilities, lack of clean water, and deplorable schools.
